Facebook announced changes that will reduce the visibility of pandering posts and outright spam. This is big shock to Facebook page admins who are spamming and sharing lots of links on Facebook.
Aim of Facebook is to connect the people each other and few people are misusing this feature. Actually they are forgetting the real meaning of Social Media.
Facebook has set its targets on publishers of Pages –
“Today we are announcing a series of improvements to News Feed to reduce stories that people frequently tell us are spammy and that they don’t want to see. Many of these stories are published by Pages that deliberately try and game News Feed to get more distribution than they normally would. Our update targets three broad categories of this type of feed spam behavior.”
- Like-baiting: Ask users to like, comment or share a post. They are actually begging for the likes as you can see in above photo. I have seen 100 of posts where Page admin usually ask to like or force them share even they are attacking emotionally to get likes and increase total numbers of reach.
- Frequently circulated content: Copy and paste… this is another formula that few page admins were using. They reuse the most popular content on the Facebook and people often complaint that this content they have seen before. Facebook said users often complain about Pages that regularly re-run photos and videos that have been popular on the network.
- Spammy links: Using inaccurate language to get clicks through to ad farms content. For instance, often these stories claim to link to a photo album but instead take the viewer to a website with just ads. They are using several call to action like click here, check out this website and when user click in the link user redirected to another website.
Conclusion : The goal of News Feed is to deliver the right content to the right people at the right time so they don’t miss the stories that are important and relevant to them. After these News Feed changes, page admin have to change their Facebook Marketing Tricks and ensure user to deliver the right content in which they are interested.
